Dear Cursillo Community,

I am excited to announce the theme for Men’s Cursillo 2025: Hold Fast.
The past few years have been marked by rapid and dramatic changes in almost every aspect of life. With technological advancements, social movements, polarizing politics, geopolitical tensions, environmental concerns, economic uncertainty, shifting moral landscapes and culture in decline, the call to “Hold Fast” has never been more crucial.
“Hold Fast” isn’t a phrase that we use much today. It means to remain tightly secured, to continue to believe in or to adhere to an idea or principle. “Hold Fast” has also been a nautical term – to hold tight- a command given to sailors when approaching a storm, warning them to grip securely to the ships ropes and rigging to avoid being washed overboard.
Our theme comes from Hebrews 10:23: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” This verse urges us to hold firmly to our faith we have in Christ so we remain secure amid the changes and turbulence of life and to encourage one another in this steadfast hope.
Charles Spurgeon preached the following in a sermon regarding this verse over a century ago: “That exhortation, ‘Let us hold fast,’ might well be written on the cover of every Christian’s Bible. We live in such a changeful age that we need all to be exhorted to be rooted and grounded, confirmed and established, in the truth.”
Our song for the weekend is a hymn by CityAlight, “Yet Not I”. May this song be an anthem to encourage us as we sing in worship “to this I hold, my hope is only Jesus.”  Click here to listen.
As we prepare for Cursillo 2025, I invite you to reflect on this theme of Hold Fast. What are you clinging to? Where is your ultimate hope? Are there any areas in your life where you need to trust Gods faithfulness more deeply? How can we hold fast to our Shepherd and help others around us hold fast to Him? Through worship, prayer, being in the Word, remembering His promises, and staying in a community of believers. All of which we do each year at Cursillo! Please plan to come back and serve with us February 20- 23 and please prayerfully consider sponsoring a candidate.
Thank you for keeping the Conference Team, Palanca Team, and candidates in your prayers as we approach Cursillo 2025. I am looking forward to us gathering again to proclaim God’s sure and unfailing promises and encourage one another in our faith by sharing His unwavering faithfulness as He is holding fast to us.

A Note from Heidi Uilk, Conference Room Rectora

Greetings 4 th Day!

What if God’s children could do life knowing deep down that we are abiding in the presence of Jesus Christ every moment of every day?
Our Bible tells us that we can. God is with us always. But does it really influence our walk, our words, our decisions, and our attitudes?
The theme our candidates and the upstairs leadership team will ponder at the women’s 2025 Cursillo weekend is “The Face of Christ.” There is not a more personal image of our faith than that of the face of our Savior Jesus Christ. My church in Edgerton has recently begun singing a new song by CityAlight. The opening phrases of the song are, “I have seen my Father’s glory revealed in Jesus Christ and the more that I behold Him the more He satisfies. When I gaze upon His beauty, when I see Him as I should, then my eyes are lifted upward for His glory and my good.” I anticipate many ways that God will show us His glory for our good this coming February when we gather!
Our focus verse from Psalm 105:4 goes right along with the theme, “Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore.” This verse is like a compass for me. I can’t seem to escape the reality that life is hard; sometimes extraordinarily hard. I am eternally grateful for the strength, grace, peace, guidance, and even joy I get to experience when I keep my eyes on Christ, rather than on my storms. I have even learned to be thankful for the storms, for it is in the middle of my biggest weaknesses that I have grown in faith and my trust in Christ. Seeking the face of Christ becomes my everything especially when I feel the most inadequate. I am reminded of the wisdom of theologian John Piper, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” Come, meet my Jesus, my joy and my strength.
Will each of you be in prayer in the coming months for all things Cursillo 2025? Who has God placed in your life as a potential candidate? Ask them! And how is God calling you to serve alongside your Cursillo family Say yes!
