FROM THE TREASURER’S CORNER
Cursillo 2026 is wrapped up! Below you will see a summary of the 2026 Cursillo income and expenses.
The income above includes not only your registration fees but also some very generous donations that were received. Our cost per person is higher than the registration fees we charged, so we are thankful for the generous donors who made that possible. Also we are grateful for the many 4 th day members who helped out others through candidate assistance or Palanca/Conference assistance this year. As a reminder, we are a 501(c)(3) organization, so any donations that you would like to make throughout the year would be tax deductible. Receipts are issued for any $250 or more contribution. We are busy planning for 2027. Registration fees will be set and communicated to you sometime this summer. Jodi Van Peursem will continue to be the registrar for the candidates. I (Val Rieck) will continue to be the registrar for the Conference Team, Palanca Team and General Palanca.
This is the last treasurer report for me as our time on Secretariat is complete. It’s been a challenging and rewarding 6 years. I am grateful for all of you and your love for this ministry. God has generously blessed us with so many years of Cursillo at Green Lake (now Waters Edge Ministry) and I look forward to what He will continue to do in years ahead. SECRETARIAT UPDATE
We had our first 2027 meeting on March 28.
We welcomed new members Jarrod and Heidi Uilk (Edgerton, MN) We are grateful they have agreed to serve in this role. Thanks to Barry andVal Rieck for their service on the
board over the last 6 years.
Officers were elected for the 2026-2027 year:
Chairman – John Helsper
Vice-Chairman – Scott Roelofs
Secretary – Nancy Helsper
Treasurer – Jarrod Uilk.
We invite you to join us in prayer for the 2027 plans that are already being made. 2027 dates are February 18-21 (Men) and February 25-28 (Women). Please be praying for the Rector (James Fraser), Rectora (Jackie Tinklenberg), Palanca Rector (Jarred Clow), and Palanca Rectora (Shelly Haugen). Please also be thinking and praying about who
you will ask to be candidates this year. We are aiming to open candidate registration in August!
A few other important updates to share:
- Candidate guidelines: This document is being updated and will be shared in a future newsletter. It is important to review this document before you ask candidates to attend.
- Mail: Mail for all (candidates, Palanca, Conference team) needs to be in 5×7 envelopes or smaller. Gifts for candidates should be limited to the coffee mug / water cup that they are given by their sponsor. Table leaders, friends and family should refrain from giving gifts to candidates and instead write mail. (Imagine if you are a candidate and the person next to you gets this gift bag and you get no gift bag. Please be mindful that your candidate is one of many.)
- General Palanca Wing: Beds are available first come, first serve on Thursday of each weekend. There will be no reserving of beds in advance. If you require a bottom bunk it must be noted on your application, and the Palanca Rector(a) will reserve a bed for you.
- No alcohol or marijuana will be allowed during the weekend.
